I'mmmmmmm Baaaack!!!

So good to be back!
Have the internet back I mean! And be back blogging!
Whew...watch out cause I've been doing TONS and with only the internet on my phone I have been having withdrawls!....Blogger withdrawls!
I have also missed out on a TON of my shows, thank goodness its "off season" and only thing I've really missed out on is the Bachelorette and America's Got Talent....but I'll be catching up soon and will definitely be putting in my 2 sense in on the Bachelorette saga!
Beyond moving with 3 kids and STILL unpacking there have also been alot of life lessons for me lately and though I do like to be open and honest with everyone there are some things that cant yet be shared.
Here's just a peak at the projects we've been doing..
SO happy to be HOME!

McCarren Pool

Evie wants to fly to New York City.  Isn't that a strange request from a small town almost-5-year-old?  I asked her where she learned about New York and she claims from our trip on the plane.  I suppose I'm an influence too though because I had recently read an article in the New York Times online about this pool and showed her this picture from Pinterest.

And I showed her all the pictures from the NY Times.  It's pretty amazing the amount of people in the black and white photo and then it's destruction and rebirth.

from Google Maps. Notice the compared to the school track!
What it'll look like all finished up.  Capacity is 1500 swimmers!

One of my favorite things to do when I'm researching about a place is to look it up in Google maps.  Obviously Google needs to update little since the pool is opening June 29th.  All Evie talks about is this giant pool in New York and how she's going there on her next vacation. :)

Going to the Zoo!

We are off to visit the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium with our kids' preschool.  It's pretty awesome and our kids are super excited!  It'll be a wet one today but nothing rain boots and umbrellas can't handle.
You should come too!  See you there! :)

Sorry 'bout that!

We totally didn't get back to posting yesterday but we did actually work on some furniture projects!
What the kids are doing around 8 am.  Yes, he is. Lol, ew.
Bree's getting her internet back later today so she can bore you to death instead of me.  Haha.  But really, our content is so much better when we are able to work together.

Goodwill find, $14.99

Garage Sale find, $5.00 (holla!)

We hauled out a table and desk that Bree had picked up on the cheap.

On the table, we removed the legs and measured for where we wanted to cut and then we fired up the saw (for the first time, eeee).  We tried some paint stripper first but then realized that we could just sand the heck out of the top.  We also sanded the bottom of the legs to even them out a bit.

After a little more hand distressing the legs and apron, we wiped the whole thing down and applied a nice dark stain all over.  We put about 3 coats of stain on the top.  I think it needs another coat or two of stain to even out the edges and then we'll seal it up for the kids!

We'll be working on the desk again soon.  I'm having one of those weeks where I don't think there's much going on but then there's something going on every day! :)
