City of Lost Souls

Book 5 of The Mortal Instruments was released yesterday. "City of Lost Souls", by Cassandra Clare, was ready to go on my nook and waiting for my slightest touch to download last night. I forgot about it until just right before bed and ended up staying up until about 11:00pm reading. The book is already getting 4.5 stars...who in the world has already read it...obviously someone without children. MINE in particular were up all night long...taking turns waking up...waking the other up and finally going back to sleep just so we could get a mini "nap" before another woke up. Any way...back to the book...I am super excited to finish reading this, though that will mean having to wait forever again for the next book to come out. I just hope this time Jace and Clary can finally have....some...intimate time before their "star crossed love" is pulled apart again and they are fighting to be with each other. I don't mind cause anything is better than them being brother and sister.....(gotta leave that hanging for those of you who have yet to read The Mortal Instruments series. Which on my list are a MUST read! If you have not read this series my tastes or on my MUST read list so far are The Twilight Series, Vampire Academy Series, Hunger Games Series, Harry Potter Series, etc. If you liked...no, no, no...you WOULD have LOVED those...so starting over again...If you loved those you will love this series as well! Enjoy, read a book!

The Mortal Instrument Series:
City of Bones
City of Ashes
City of Glass
City of Fallen Angels

Synopsis of Book 5 of The Mortal Instruments: City of Lost Souls: (don't worry this is also the first few pages of the book so its not a spoiler)

"The demon Lilith has been destroyed and Jace has been freed from her captivity. But when the Shadowhunters arrive to rescue him, they find only blood and broken glass. Not only is the boy Clary loves missing–but so is the boy she hates, Sebastian, the son of her father Valentine: a son determined to succeed where their father failed, and bring the Shadowhunters to their knees.

No magic the Clave can summon can locate either boy, but Jace cannot stay away—not from Clary. When they meet again Clary discovers the horror Lilith’s dying magic has wrought—Jace is no longer the boy she loved. He and Sebastian are now bound to each other, and Jace has become what he most feared: a true servant of Valentine’s evil. The Clave is determined to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. Will the Shadowhunters hesitate to kill one of their own?

Only a small band of Clary and Jace’s friends and family believe that Jace can still be saved — and that the fate of the Shadowhunters’ future may hinge on that salvation. They must defy the Clave and strike out on their own. Alec, Magnus, Simon and Isabelle must work together to save Jace: bargaining with the sinister Faerie Queen, contemplating deals with demons, and turning at last to the Iron Sisters, the reclusive and merciless weapons makers for the Shadowhunters, who tell them that no weapon on this earth can sever the bond between Sebastian and Jace. Their only chance of cutting Jace free is to challenge Heaven and Hell — a risk that could claim any, or all, of their lives.

And they must do it without Clary. For Clary has gone into the heart of darkness, to play a dangerous game utterly alone. The price of losing the game is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she even still trust him? Or is he truly lost? What price is too high to pay, even for love?

Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series."

Gotta go read~

Michelle Obama

Besides being the wife of the United States of America's 44th President and having 2 daughters of her own, Michelle Obama is a huge advocate...especially on Childhood Obesity.
And political views aside I think we can all agree that her "Let's Move" campaign is a long time coming and a top priority for all families.....as well as a good ol'.....FANTASTIC idea!
Her efforts in the fight against childhood obesity is why we honor Mrs. Michelle Obama this week for Mother's Day.

What is "Let's Move"?

Let's Move!
"is a campaign to end childhood obesity in the United States. The campaign was started by First Lady Michelle Obama. The initiative has the initially stated goal of "solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation so that children born today will reach adulthood at a healthy weight." Wikipedia "Let's Move"

The Let's Move initiative is focused towards the health of children. It helps provided schools, communities and families the tools they need to help kids be more active, eat better and get healthy.
Let's Move's Four Key Components:
  1. Making Healthy Choices
  2. Healthier Food in School
  3. Access to Healthy Affordable Food
  4. Increasing Physical Activity and Education
Michelle and "Let's Move" have been working in communities to create healthy kid friendly recipes, show families and children how to plant, grow and harvest their own garden and the importance of why.
How to portion control in a kid friendly way with "MyPlate"
She also made a very special appearance on The Biggest Loser, worked out with the biggest loser and their families and issued a challenge to all Americans.

Why is all this important? Here's the facts...
"Obesity by the numbers
Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled, and today, nearly one in three children in America are overweight or obese. The numbers are even higher in African American and Hispanic communities, where nearly 40% of the children are overweight or obese. If we don't solve this problem, one third of all children born in 2000 or later will suffer from diabetes at some point in their lives. Many others will face chronic obesity-related health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and asthma."~Let's Move

Do we really want that for our CHILDREN?? I sure don't! If you want to do something to help this epidemic, learn more, or get some great ideas for your family please follow this link to Let's Move.Gov for more info!

Michelle even teamed up with Beyonce Knowles and Swizz Beatz to create a song to help promote the "Lets Move Flash Workout" in hopes to get kids dancing and moving. There was even a music video released:

Handmade Stepping Stones

Handmade with Love
Stepping Stones for Mom's Day
What you need:

Molds, such as foil pie tins
Newspapers
Quick-drying concrete
Plastic work container
Water
Rocks, marbles, small toys, or other items
Nonstick cooking spray
Acrylic paints
Paintbrush

Instructions:
1. In a well-ventilated work area, place newspapers over work surface.
2. Pour quick-drying concrete into a plastic container. For each tin, you'll need about 8 cups of dry concrete mix. Mix it with water according to the directions. To slow the drying time, add another cup of water to the mixture. Just before you pour, spray the form with nonstick cooking spray. When the mixture is the consistency of cake batter, pour it carefully into the form.
3. Smooth out the concrete and add embellishments, such as rocks, marbles, or small toys. Write your name with a small stick and make a hand print or footprint if desired. Work quickly. Wash hand or feet when done. Let the plaque dry.
4. Remove the plaque from the form. Paint it as desired. Let the paint dry.

Thank you Martha!
