Kindergarten Countdown: 7 days

With seven days to go, I thought we'd talk a little about lunches.
Via Pinterest
Evie will have lunch at school twice a month.  Our district has early release on Fridays so the half day kindergartens attend every other all day.  I think that's just perfect for us.  It gives Evie the opportunity to go all day and have lunch in the cafetiera.  She's not huge into crowds lol.
Enumclaw School District

We are going to try school lunches first.  They have a decent menu full of healthy options including a salad bar.  I grew up on school lunches.  To this day, I will pick a "hot" lunch over a "cold" lunch!  Also I don't want to forget to send her with lunchbox the first few weeks.

During the rest of the week, I still have Jack of course, so I'll be feeding two kids.  Last year I started making my own menu to help me be more organized.  Having something preset helps me "decide" what to have and keeps me on budget when grocery shopping.

I made up my menu in Excel the numbers are the dates.  I take my menu with me when I shop so I can make sure the expiration dates will match up with the dates I plan to use the item.  Most stuff does easy because it's canned but sometimes I also need to plan on lunch for a bunch of kids or stuff to pack if we are going to the park for a playdate or having a playdate at my house.  You'd have a hard time making chicken nuggets without an oven. :)    I use Thursday as an open day too, but really any day is tradeable.  I also change up the sides with fresh in-season fruits.  Sometimes I try new things, special salads or different way of preparing but generally they like these things.

Each kid as their own pickyness, Ally doesn't care for carrots, Evie doesn't care for cheese, and Jack will make himself puke over chicken soup.  If Evie and Ally want a cookie or treat, they must eat their carrots and cheese.  Jack just gets a whole pb and J sandwich (the girls usually do halves) with no soup. You got to pick your battles.  It's not like it's weird soup either, just plain ol' Campbells.  What can you do? lol.  We drink a lot of milk and water all day.

What do you do for lunch?

Milk bubbles and orange slices,

Pregnancy After Tubal...

Gentleman BEWARE!!! MAJOR girly, womanly area conversation up ahead!!! TMI!! Take the detour!
{Always LOVE the thin pink paper dresses}
I went into the OBGYN's yesterday for my mystery female problem. (If you need some catching up refer to my Google Search Scared post). This office came HIGHLY recommended and as I pulled up I was very impressed with the nice new building that stood before me! Very new and architecturally pleasing to the eye!

Though I must tell you, when you walk through Suite 200's door you are magically transported into ........
(turn the horror music on)
 {Everything was gold!!.....the cheesy traditional 90's gold}
{Gold Framed OLD century photo, overly worn (BUT COZY) leather furniture, and many dusty quilts}
{color theme inspiration: gold, gold, gold and more gold, teal and "mauve-a-licious"}

It was just such an odd match from outside to inside.....I'll just be nice and say not MY taste buuut I won't judge...unless my appt is bad. BAhhahaha!
After discussing my issue I am asked to disrobe (difficult when you stupidly wore a dress) and give a urine sample. I do as I'm told and as I begin to go potty I realize I'm not going in the cup. WTF Bree! I did this once before when I was massive pregnant and the nurses chalked it up to being rather funny and blaming it on my preggo brain. I doubt they will think it cute THIS time. After pushing on my bladder, jumping up and down and running the water I was able to produce a small amount. An embarrassingly small amount!
If you can't figure out why yet, (most likely) they wanted a pee sample to check if I'm pregnant...Uhhhh YA! UHHHH I f*%#ing hope not! Ekk!!! I have 3 beautiful children and love them dearly but want NO MORE! LOL! That's why I got "fixed"!
So what's the risk of pregnancy after tubals??
Via WebMd.com
Tubal Ligation and Tubal Implants are NOT 100% effective at preventing pregnancy.

  • There is a slight risk of becoming pregnant after tubal ligation. This happens to about 5 out of 1,000 women after 1 year. After a total of 5 years following tubal ligation, about 13 out of 1,000 women will have become pregnant.
Pregnancy may occur if:

  • The tubes grow back together or a new passage forms (recanalization) that allows an egg to be fertilized by sperm. Your doctor can discuss which method of ligation is more effective preventing tubes from growing back together.
  • The surgery was not done correctly.
  • You were pregnant at the time of surgery.
So my rates of being knocked up and that being the cause of all my issues....5 out of 1,000. I DON'T like those odds! For me when I got "fixed" I was thinking/hoping the odds were like...NEVER!

My appt comes toward the end and (I knew I wasn't, LOL) but NOT PREGNANT! But then I am informed of what comes next. Theres a few things Dr can't really explains he finds and "your going to need to take some extra hormones, blood work, and in 2 weeks get a specialized ultrasound for a better look." (hope my insurance covers THAT one, YIKES) Oh YES, and you can't forget the pamphlet on "Abnormal Uterine Bleeding" fun, fun! LOL! There must be a pamphlet for EVERYTHING I swear! At least he didn't just give me that and say read this and we'll just see how next month goes. I left with no answers but a plan and I feel he's taking my concerns seriously. So ya, your office decor is awful but your a great Dr so far! LOL. Onto the hormones..."SUPER"!

Watch OUT Bree's on EXTRA hormones for a week~
Bree and J

P.S. This post was for all of those people who thought I was pregnant even though I reassured everyone I wasn't over and over! Bahahahahahaaaa! Sorry but i thought it was hilarious!! Bree so funny!!!

The Healthy Housewife: Week 1

Week 1
For our first week back on the workout wagon we are going to start off with working out 3 times this week. You choose the day and time and your week is from Monday to Friday...NOT the weekend. You have 1 workout routine with a few variations for the 3 days. Next week will change.
From reading Summer Years Resolution you should already know what your calorie intake should be (from the calorie counter link) and you need to be sticking to it...the best you can. Use the "MyFitnessPal" to help you keep track/journal/log your calories daily. HINT: log as you consume...not at the end of the day. The first week or two can be difficult but push through it. You may notice your going over your calories the first week but you will start to figure out what you CAN eat that is lower in calories and what you CAN'T! HINT: if you like sweets, salty or chocolate buy some of the 100 calorie packs for your indulgent snacking. HINT: this one is obvious but sometimes you need a reminder...the healthier you eat (usually) the less calories...allowing yourself MORE calories to eat in a day. Be creative and take some Advil....you will be sore this week if you've been doing nothing AND you will have a headache from crappy food withdrawls. LOL.

WORKOUT WEEK ONE:

MOVES:

Lunge with Axe Chop:
Use a dumbbell for this and I would like you to raise it up higher...more like and action if your were "chopping" wood. LOL. HINT: when you lunge chop downwards ACROSS and over the leg that is lunging. Use a plain dumbbell, just starting off use one 5lb or two 3lb weights together...for more difficulty up the weight.

Standard Push Up (on knees):
Make sure you get a 90 degree angle in the elbow...if this means you go to your knees to do this correctly than there's no shame in going to your knees.

Captains Chair:
As you get better at this or to make the move more difficult move your butt towards the edge of the chair or straighten out your legs alittle for more difficulty.

Tricep Dip on Chair:
Make sure to dip down low, close to 90 degree angle in the elbow is ideal. If you can only dip alittle thats fine, you gotta start somewhere....just don't make excuses for yourself and PUSH YOURSELF!

Imaginary Jump Rope:
Just like you think...pretend your doing the school yard game but not actually using a jump rope....swing your arms as if to swing your rope around and hop with BOTH feet coming off the floor over the imaginary rope. If this is difficult alternate feet while jumping so there is always one foot on the ground at all times. To make this move more difficult jump with BOTH feet up higher.

ROUTINE:

Circuit 1:
14 Lunges with Wood Chop
20 Tricep Dips
Captains Chair (hold for 30 sec)
Jump Rope 30 Jumps

Circuit 2:
12 Lunges with Wood Chop
15 Pushups
Captains Chair (hold for 30 sec)
Jump Rope 30 Jumps

Circuit 3:
10 Lunges with Wood Chop
15 Tricep Chair Dips
10 Pushups
Captains Chair (30 sec+ challenge yourself to go as long as you can...once you reach that end point count to 5 then control the relax)
Jump Rope 30 Jumps

Try to go through this with minimal breaks, the more breaks you take the more your heart rate goes down to a none fat burning level.

For our first week this may be enough for you...but if you need some more repeat the 3 circuits.

What Bree would do: (lol)
Day one:
Do this circuit at home to become familiar with the routine.
Use heavier weights...wood chop I'd use one 8 or 10lb weight.
Day two:
Do circiut outside while walking. Find a walking trail and walk with your 3lb weights. At certain intervales (or when there isnt anyone around, lol) start your circuit. For Tricep Dips, Captiains Chair and Pushups find a bench, you can do all these exercises using a bench. For the push ups stay on your feet and place hands on either bottom of bench (where your butt sits) or back of bench (where your back would rest) You do not have to add in jump rope as long as your speed walking. :)
Day three:
Do at home because you may be sore...if not head outside again if you can. If your sore than lower your wood chop weight. More reps less weight is best for women wanting to have long lean muscles not bulky building muscles. Working out outside the house is also so much better!

Keep in mind:
Everyone is different and at different levels. If this is too difficult cut it down alittle, same goes if its too easy..up it alittle. Make sure to stretch, drink water, and listen to your body when it needs a break. And stretch your whole body...not just what you worked out.

Feel free to ask questions!

I'll be updating and keeping tabs this week!

Have fun with it and grab a friend~

Honor A Mom: Tuesday

Honor A Mom: Tuesday

Michelle Obama

Besides being the wife of the United States of America's 44th President and having 2 daughters of her own, Michelle Obama is a huge advocate...especially on Childhood Obesity.
And political views aside I think we can all agree that her "Let's Move" campaign is a long time coming and a top priority for all families.....as well as a good ol'.....FANTASTIC idea!
Her efforts in the fight against childhood obesity is why we honor Mrs. Michelle Obama this week for Mother's Day.

What is "Let's Move"?

Let's Move!
"is a campaign to end childhood obesity in the United States. The campaign was started by First Lady Michelle Obama. The initiative has the initially stated goal of "solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation so that children born today will reach adulthood at a healthy weight." Wikipedia "Let's Move"

The Let's Move initiative is focused towards the health of children. It helps provided schools, communities and families the tools they need to help kids be more active, eat better and get healthy.
Let's Move's Four Key Components:
  1. Making Healthy Choices
  2. Healthier Food in School
  3. Access to Healthy Affordable Food
  4. Increasing Physical Activity and Education
Michelle and "Let's Move" have been working in communities to create healthy kid friendly recipes, show families and children how to plant, grow and harvest their own garden and the importance of why.
How to portion control in a kid friendly way with "MyPlate"
She also made a very special appearance on The Biggest Loser, worked out with the biggest loser and their families and issued a challenge to all Americans.

Why is all this important? Here's the facts...
"Obesity by the numbers
Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled, and today, nearly one in three children in America are overweight or obese. The numbers are even higher in African American and Hispanic communities, where nearly 40% of the children are overweight or obese. If we don't solve this problem, one third of all children born in 2000 or later will suffer from diabetes at some point in their lives. Many others will face chronic obesity-related health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and asthma."~Let's Move

Do we really want that for our CHILDREN?? I sure don't! If you want to do something to help this epidemic, learn more, or get some great ideas for your family please follow this link to Let's Move.Gov for more info!

Michelle even teamed up with Beyonce Knowles and Swizz Beatz to create a song to help promote the "Lets Move Flash Workout" in hopes to get kids dancing and moving. There was even a music video released:

Zaycon Foods

Zaycon Foods is fast, convenient, fresh, and affordable way to purchase BULK meats, fruits and more. When i say BULK I mean BULK...their last chicken sales event the MINIMUM you could buy was 40lbs...but buying in such a large quantity is well worth your dollar! Just hope you have room in you freezer...for us we have an extra.

The company is privately owned and based in the state of Washington. They sell only what they would eat themselves providing high quality, healthy food. Founded in 2009 they pride themselves on :
  • Integrity
  • Teamwork
  • Exceptional Customer Service
  • "No Sacred Chickens" (a tongue-in-cheek phrase for how they handle and deal with issues)
While only focusing on the commonly consumed food items such as fresh meats like chicken, beef, turkey, pork and fish they are able to deliver products direct from the farm/processor...the products are as fresh as if you had your own farm!

I have personally yet to try them...I missed out on the chicken sale event but when the next one comes around I will be looking forward to it! It is my understanding that this is how it works:
  • you sign up, select your location, and choose/purchase your item
  • the day of event/sale/pick up (this is usually one day and during select hours, you see this before purchase) you show up, they load, you drive away without even having to get out of your car
  • go home, freezer pack, cook and enjoy!

Reviews:

"I really like the chicken breasts we received. First, they are a great size. Chopped up, two chicken breasts can make a meal that lasts us 2 days. And they have a wonderful fresh taste to them. We originally received the chicken fresh so I had to freeze the remaining portions that I wasn’t going to use immediately. After being frozen for a couple of weeks, the chicken still has that fresh taste just like the ones I used right after receiving them."-surprisedmama.com

"I am so excited to see what else that Zaycon might be bringing to my area the next time that they are around. I love how they do it. They plan events for different areas in the US and if you are registered with them you will be notified about an event near you. They bring the truck out and pick up your fresh items from them. I know what you are thinking, "oh so they are like the Schwan's man". My answer to you is "NOT AT ALL". This is fresh, top quality product that is based on the region and the season. They may be having a peaches and chicken event and the next time they come to your area it might just be wonderful smoky bacon!!!! The products do come by the case, and if you are now thinking "well that is too much for my family", then you could split a case with a friend or neighbor. Honestly we are a family of 3 and buying things by the case is great and keeps my monthly grocery budget down as well as allows me to plan ahead with my meals."-southerncouponqueen.com

"I went down to my local pick-up location which was about 20 minutes from my home, not too bad of a commute. When I arrived everything was very well organized and ran quickly and easily. You stay in your car the whole time and are “checked-in” and given a card that indicates how many units you purchased. You then continue down 30 feet ahead to the back of the truck and trade your unit card over for your purchase. This system worked so well that there was no confusion and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes!"-amomstake.com
