Homemade Mickey Tees

With two days to go (TWO DAYS!!!! EEEEE!) I tried to make myself a "Mickey" tee.  I picked out some fabric and Heat N Bond Ultrahold on Mother's Day that matched a tank I already had on hand.  I picked out a Mickey head by Googling "Mickey Mouse silhouette".  I saved it as a picture so I could imported it into Publisher.

There's a big one for me and a little for Evie. I printed them out after I adjusted the size to what I wanted.  I cut the paper Mickey and traced them with pencil on the wrong side of the fabric.

I then followed the directions on the Heat N Bond and basically made a giant iron on patch.

Evie's shirt without stitching.

I started with my shirt first just in case it didn't work.  I ironed on the patch and then sat down to my sewing machine and did a zig zag/applique stitch all the way around.  I messed up a bit at the corners but then when I tried to fix them up, my machine decided to die.  So Evie doesn't get to have hers appliqued but we'll see how having just the Heat N Bond will hold up.

Close-up of my fail. :)

You'll have to wait and see what they look like in action next week!

What I did today!

I made this:

Look like this:

Normally I make the girls help but it was out of control!  And I was on a mission to find articles dirty clothing that my daughter stashes in random places.  She has a hamper but it doesn't help. :)

In other news, as Bree mentioned the other day, my family is getting ready to go on our first family vacation and it's to Disneyland!!!  I am so excited!  We will be celebrating my mom's 50th Birthday while we are there and having lunch with Ariel for Evie.  My girl love her some Little Mermaid!  She's crazy for Ariel.

My list of things to get done before we go:
Straighten garage
Swap Fridgerators
Straighten my bedroom
Scrub down the bathrooms
Scrub down the kitchen
Put away the Easter decorations
Put up some Memorial Day decorations
Finish my garden
Clean Evie's room
Mop my entire house
Finish up some projects
Pack our bags

These are thing in addition to my daily duties and getting ready for a birthday party when we get home for Miss Ally.  I have to straighten the garage so that we can swap our working fridgerator with the non-working one in my kitchen.  We have a house sitter and I don't want to be all ghetto with my fridges even though I've been living like this for 2 weeks.  I can't wait for VACATION!!!

Busy Working Bees

Good Morning!!!  No mother really ever has a sick day!  When Bree and I decided to have a blog together, we talked a lot about the future that we hope to have.  We decided to go ahead and purchase our domain name to make our web address a little easier to share with our friends.
After a couple of hiccups we are official!!!  Introducing:

The above link will bring you right back here.  :)  The nicest thing is having "sister" pluralized.  We are super excited! You can also contact us with our new emails: Jessi@farmhousesisters.com and bree@farmhousesisters.com!!!

Taking a "sick day"

We'll be taking a "sick day" today...LOL!
For me at least the weekend was super busy, not really relaxing. With so many things to get done at my in-laws new rental house (aka our new house, lol) I am about frazzle fried out! And Jessi is days away from Disneyland with her family and probably packing like a fool! That we decided to take a "sick day" from blogging and enjoy the beautiful hot sunny day we are going to have today!
You can look forward to some awesome "in progress" photos of the house, sisterly conversation, and more this week!
I just cant wait to move IN and OUT of this tiny apt!!!
Go enjoy the day...don't tell your boss that I'm encouraging you to take a sick day too but by all means join us!
I don't "feel so well"...I think I have the fun bug~
